These Greek Yogurt Chocolate Chip Muffins are a delicious, protein-boosted treat thanks to Greek yogurt. Sweetened with maple syrup and made with whole grain flour, they are perfect as a snack or packed in a lunchbox.

I make these chocolate chip muffins regularly because the Greek yogurt adds a welcome protein boost and keeps them moist.
This recipe is simple and comes together in one bowl. I often make a batch for afternoon snacks—kids and adults both love them.
Including protein with carbohydrate-based treats helps me feel more satisfied and keeps blood sugar steadier than eating sweets alone. These muffins are a great way to enjoy something sweet while adding a little extra nutrition.
Muffin ingredients

- Greek yogurt – Full-fat or 2% work well; non-fat may also be fine though I haven’t tested it.
- Melted butter – Grapeseed or olive oil can be substituted; olive oil has a distinct flavor some prefer to avoid.
- Maple syrup
- Egg
- Vanilla extract
- Whole grain flour – Whole wheat, spelt, or barley flour all work; I like barley flour.
- Baking powder
- Baking soda
- Sea salt
- Chocolate chips or chopped chocolate

Tip: Chopping a chocolate bar is usually more economical than buying chocolate chips and gives the muffins a great texture.
How to make Greek yogurt chocolate chip muffins
This recipe is quick and easy—everything is mixed in one bowl.
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients: Greek yogurt, melted butter, maple syrup, egg, and vanilla.
Sprinkle the dry ingredients—flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt—over the wet mixture. Add the chocolate chips or chopped chocolate as well.

Stir the batter just until the dry ingredients are moistened; avoid overmixing to keep the muffins tender.
Divide the batter among eight paper-lined muffin cups and, if you like, add a few extra chocolate chips on top.

Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the muffin tops are springy to the touch and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
