Although I’m back in Michigan, I’m still buzzing from the excitement of the Ralph Breaks the Internet premiere in California earlier this week. The event was a delightful mix of glamour, nostalgia, and playful Disney energy.

I’ll post my full movie review next week, but for now I want to share the premiere experience itself. When I first learned I would attend, the immediate question was, “What should I wear?” I opted not to dress as a specific princess but chose a princess-inspired look: a dusty pink tulle skirt paired with a lace top and a delicate headpiece. It felt festive without being a costume.

My outfit came together easily and suited the mood of the evening. Arriving on the blue carpet was a thrill—media buzzed all around, fans and photographers were calling out names, and celebrities greeted one another as they posed for photos.

I’ve done red carpet events before, but each one has its own personality and setup. For this premiere, the blue carpet fit the film’s theme perfectly and created a playful, modern backdrop for photos.

After the photo opportunities and excited moments spotting familiar faces, we walked into the historic El Capitan Theatre and took our seats. The theater always adds a sense of occasion to any premiere, with its ornate interior and cinematic atmosphere.

Ralph Breaks the Internet Premiere Party

Once the lights dimmed and the film screened (stay through the entire credits), the celebration continued at The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Disney’s after-party was full of interactive stations: photo booths, meet-and-greets with Ralph and Vanellope, DIY slime, cookie stations, and themed activities that reflected the film’s playful spirit.

It was a treat to move from room to room with friends, soaking up the atmosphere and spotting celebrities along the way. We didn’t manage to get photos with everyone we saw, but the night was full of memorable moments—taking our own photos, chatting with fellow attendees, and watching a charming Disney princess reunion that included Irene Bedard, the voice of Pocahontas.

Meeting Irene was a highlight—she was warm, funny, and encouraging. The photo booths were especially fun and provided plenty of keepsake moments from the evening.

Some attendees asked whether Anika Noni Rose, the voice of Princess Tiana, was present. She was not at the premiere, though a talented performer portraying Tiana did make an appearance during the festivities.

More than anything, the evening reinforced the movie’s core theme: friendship. The event was a chance to make new connections and celebrate with longtime friends, which felt very much in tune with Ralph and Vanellope’s story.

Later in the evening we spotted Sarah Silverman, greeted Jack McBrayer, and chatted with Dani Fernandez, who lends her voice to the film. The party included indulgent treats—pancakes and giant milkshakes that tasted like something out of a fairytale. As midnight approached, we wrapped up the night and headed back to the hotel, still buzzing from the festivities.

The night was a wonderful mix of excitement and warmth, and I’m grateful to have shared it with so many friends.

Ralph Breaks the Internet follows Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly) and his best friend Vanellope von Schweetz (voice of Sarah Silverman) as they leave Litwak’s arcade to save Vanellope’s game, Sugar Rush. Their journey takes them into the vast and unpredictable world of the internet, where they meet Netizens who help them navigate online culture. Characters like Yesss (voice of Taraji P. Henson), the head algorithm of the trend-setting site “BuzzzTube,” and Shank (voice of Gal Gadot), a tough driver from an online racing game, add new layers to Vanellope and Ralph’s relationship. Directed by Rich Moore and Phil Johnston and produced by Clark Spencer, the film explores friendship, identity, and how relationships evolve in unexpected places.
