Flavored Water is simple to prepare and a refreshing way to stay hydrated during warm weather. In this post I share two favorite versions — a cucumber citrus infusion and a berry-infused water — but there are countless combinations you can try.

My Go-To Flavored Water Recipes
Drinking enough water is especially important in the summer. I usually stick to plain water, but adding fruit or vegetables makes it more enjoyable and encourages me to drink more. Flavored or “spa” water is effortless to make and feels a bit indulgent, like the waters served at spas.
Here are two easy combinations: a berry water using strawberries and blueberries (or swap in raspberries and blackberries), and a citrus cucumber water made with orange and cucumber slices (lemon works well too).
You can prepare a full pitcher or make single servings. For individual jars, I use 8-ounce mason jars, adding about 1/4 cup of berries total or six thin slices of orange and cucumber combined. Adjust amounts to reach the flavor intensity you prefer.
When enjoying flavored water, you can top off the jar or pitcher with fresh water two to three times until the fruit loses its flavor, then discard or eat the softened fruit and make another batch.

Flavored Water Ingredients
Berry water:
- Fresh strawberries
- Fresh blueberries
- Water
- Ice
Citrus cucumber water:
- Fresh orange
- Cucumber
- Water
- Ice
How to Make Flavored Water
Thinly slice the fruit and vegetables. Place them in a glass, mason jar, or water bottle, then fill with water and add ice. Let it sit for a few minutes to allow the flavors to infuse, then enjoy. Refill with fresh water until the fruit’s flavor fades — typically you can top off the container two to three times.

Tips for the Best Flavored Water
Use a seedless cucumber if you don’t want small seeds floating in your drink. I wash cucumbers but usually leave the skin on — it adds color and nutrients.
A small squeeze of fresh lemon or orange juice brightens the flavor without overpowering the infusion. Just a little goes a long way.
If you take flavored water on the go, choose a bottle with a straw to make sipping easier and to avoid spilling fruit when you drink.
