Chocolate Covered OREO Hearts
February is here and Valentine’s Day is fast approaching. If you’re planning a festive celebration with kids or loved ones, heart-shaped treats are always a hit. For years we’ve made heart-shaped pizzas and other themed snacks, and this year I added chocolate covered OREO hearts to the menu. They’re simple to make, customizable with many candy melt colors, and perfect for parties, school treats, or a cozy family celebration.

I used a sturdy three-layer heart mold to create layers of colored candy and white chocolate around OREO Thins. The molds I used hold their shape well and make it easy to remove the finished pieces without breaking them. To assemble, melt each color of candy melts separately and pour into the mold in stages, allowing each layer to set before adding the next. For the final layer, cover half the cavity with melted white chocolate, place an OREO in the center, then cover the rest to seal the cookie inside. A quick chill in the freezer—about 10 minutes—sets them. If you refrigerate them, let the mold sit at room temperature for a minute before unmolding to avoid separate layers separating.

These are great for Valentine’s Day but also work well for birthdays, baby showers, weddings, or any time you want a cute, handheld dessert. You can vary colors, add sprinkles between layers, or pipe details for a custom look. If you plan to make a batch, have small piping bags or spooning tools handy to get clean layers inside the mold.
