Hi, Spoonful of Flavor readers! I’m Aubrie Gerber, a travel writer and photographer based in South Florida. When I’m not contributing to publications, I’m capturing images for restaurants and resorts. Recently I spent a few days exploring Saint Lucia and wanted to share a concise three-day guide packed with where to stay, what to eat and the best local experiences.

Saint Lucia, an Eastern Caribbean island known for lush volcanic scenery, is an easy international getaway with direct flights from many U.S. cities. The island widely accepts U.S. dollars and English is commonly spoken alongside Creole, which makes travel simpler for American visitors.

Where to Stay in Saint Lucia

Marigot Bay Resort & Marina is a standout option. About an hour from Hewanorra International Airport, the resort greets guests with a spiced rum tea and a cool towel, and a personal assistant provides a property tour. Perched above Marigot Bay—a scenic harbor popular with mega-yachts—the resort manages to feel private while offering two infinity pools, spa cottages, a rum cave, four restaurants and a swim-up bar. Each of the 124 plantation-style rooms features a rainforest shower and a private balcony or patio; some rooms include plunge pools if you request one when booking.

The resort focuses on personal touches—from daily snacks and local Piton beer to staff who quickly learn guests’ names—making it easy to relax and unwind.

Where to Dine in Saint Lucia

On this 238-square-mile island you’ll find a wide range of dining options. Be sure to sample Saint Lucian specialties like hot bakes with banana jam, salt fish stew, mango quiche and curry chicken—local flavors that are both simple and memorable.

Saint Lucia dining

The Grill at 14⁰61⁰ serves classic Saint Lucian dishes and seafood sourced from local fishermen. It’s a great spot for an authentic buffet breakfast or a refined Caribbean-inspired dinner featuring kingfish, snapper and yellowfin tuna.

Brut Bar sushi

For a relaxed poolside lunch, head to Brut Bar where chefs prepare sushi and ceviche using fresh local catches. The Bonito Tuna Roll—with tuna loin, chayote, hot chili aioli and avocado—is a spicy favorite. Reserve a complimentary cabana to enjoy lunch and cocktails in comfort.

Rum Cave tapas

The Rum Cave offers a quieter setting with an extensive tapas menu and rum tastings. Tapas like slow-cooked beef short rib and sautéed shrimp in peppercorn sauce are ideal for sharing.

Hurricane Hole Bar & Restaurant

Marina Village’s Hurricane Hole Bar & Restaurant is casual and seaside, perfect for burgers, wings and watching yachts in the harbor. Marigot Bay Resort also offers an all-inclusive dining plan, a convenient choice for families or couples who plan to spend much of their time on-site.

Julietta's Restaurant sunset

For sunset views, visit Julietta’s Restaurant & Bar atop Marigot Bay. The menu highlights conch fritters, coconut shrimp and fresh-caught fish in Creole sauce. Save room for the tableside banana flambé—an entertaining finish to any meal.

Saint Lucia Land and Sea Adventure

A Soufriere Land and Sea tour covers the island’s highlights. Start with a catamaran ride along the coast toward the iconic Pitons, then explore Soufriere’s botanical gardens, Diamond Waterfall and sulfur mud springs with a local guide. The tour often ends with snorkeling at a nearby beach—an ideal combination of sightseeing and water time.
