What Does Labor Look Like? Signs, Stages, and What to Expect

It all started with more than ten hours at home — contractions on the birth ball, in the tub and yes, even on the toilet.

Recently I went through old photos—holiday nostalgia had me scrolling, and I stumbled across a folder I had forgotten: my labor. After Oscar arrived we naturally fast-forwarded to baby pictures, but the truth is I earned that sweet little face. I’ve kept the intimate moments modest, sparing you any explicit pushing photos, but here’s a clear, honest recollection of that day captured in images.

Jerry was incredible every step of the way.
Once we reached the hospital, Jerry and our doula Christina helped ease my sore muscles.
My sisters drove three hours as soon as they heard — their arrival meant the world. The monitors were used intermittently, which we appreciated.
This is one of my favorite photos — pure support and love.
I still lean on you.
Oscar didn’t arrive in the most traditional way, but his entrance was unforgettable.
Proud parents — then and now.
