This post began when my daughter was in preschool and I couldn’t find tags I loved, so I designed my own. Over the years the set has been updated and is still a simple, practical way to add charm to Halloween treats.

Ten years later, the designs have held up and continue to be a favorite for quick, festive touches.

Supplies Needed
- White cardstock (65–110 lb) — sturdier than regular paper so tags hold up on goodie bags.
- Color printer — inkjet or laser will work; set scale to 100% for accurate sizing.
- Paper trimmer or scissors — a trimmer gives cleaner, straighter cuts.
- Hole punch — for threading ribbon or twine through the tags.
- Ribbon, string, or baker’s twine — to attach the tags to treats.
- Optional: sticker paper to make peel-and-stick labels instead of tie-on tags.
- Optional: laminator to make tags reusable year after year.
How to Use the Halloween Tags
These gift tags are intentionally versatile. The designs coordinate so you can mix and match them for different projects. All name areas are left blank so you can personalize as needed.

Suggested uses for the printable tags:
- Classroom goodie bags
- Candy treats for coworkers (attach candy to the back of the tags)
- Halloween night treats for trick-or-treaters
- Party favors at a Halloween gathering
- Sticker labels for Halloween crafts
- Labels for cookie plates for neighbors
- Food table labels at a Halloween party

The download also includes a blank fold-over label you can use as a tent-style food label or treat bag topper—super handy for parties.

Label Printing Tips
- These printables are for personal use only; resale or commercial use is not permitted.
- When you download the printables, a PDF file opens in a new tab. Use the printer icon to print or the download arrow to save the file to your device.
- For best results, print in color on 8.5×11″ white cardstock. A paper cutter yields the straightest edges, but scissors work fine.
- An at-home printer works well; be sure to set scale to 100% (Actual Size) rather than Fit to Page for accurate sizing.

Troubleshooting
- Colors look dull or smear: Use bright white cardstock, allow ink to dry fully, and print at the highest quality your printer supports.
- Tags print too small or large: Ensure your printer scale is set to 100% (Actual Size) instead of “Fit to Page.”
- Margins are cutting off the design: Use standard 8.5×11″ paper and select borderless printing if your printer supports it.
- PDF won’t open: Download the file and open it with a PDF reader like Adobe Acrobat for the most reliable results.
- Edges aren’t straight: A paper trimmer makes a big difference; sharp scissors will work in a pinch.
- Want reusable tags? Laminate the printed sheets, then cut and punch holes for durable, reusable tags.
FAQs
Bright white cardstock, 65–110 lb, is best. It keeps tags sturdy and makes colors pop. Regular printer paper works in a pinch but won’t be as durable.
Yes — you can scale the PDF in your printer settings. Be cautious: shrinking too much can make text hard to read, while enlarging may affect margins.
