These dessert ideas aren’t for the people who can take one bite of a cookie and walk away. These low-calorie desserts are for people like me who want to enjoy an entire treat for about 100 calories and still stay on track with weight-loss goals.
I count calories. It’s not a fad. Some argue calories don’t matter, or that they’re irrelevant if you eat “healthy” foods. After 45 years as a short woman, I can tell you calories matter. Even a few hundred extra calories of healthy foods each day added up to most of the weight struggles I experienced.
New beliefs about counting calories
When I stopped assuming calories were irrelevant and began tracking everything and eating mindfully, I stopped gaining weight. At first tracking felt like a chore—I resisted it and thought it was unfair. Over time I learned to enjoy the process. The journey matters as much as the destination.
I decided to find joy in tracking. I reframed it as a learning experience, almost like a small experiment—planning ahead and observing how different foods affect my body. Tracking gave me accountability and structure rather than turning every day into a free-for-all.

Now tracking is enjoyable and even a little scientific for me. I like knowing how foods impact me, and I love that tracking lets me include any food—dessert included—when it fits my plan.
Why low-calorie desserts matter
I love dessert, and because I track, I want to know the calories and macros for each portion. I also value portion control—if I can make a single-serving dessert, I will. I searched for low-calorie desserts and found many “healthy” options that were still high in calories, so I created a list of eight desserts that are under 100 calories and meant to be made as single servings you can enjoy entirely.
Desserts under 100 calories
1. Cool Whip & Yogurt Pie — 94 calories
A simple combination of Cool Whip and Greek yogurt scooped onto a Nilla wafer crust makes a light, creamy treat that stays under 100 calories.

2. Chocolate Cups — 100 calories
Melt 1 tablespoon of chocolate chips and brush into a silicone muffin cup. Freeze to set, then fill with light whipped topping and fresh berries for a satisfying, portion-controlled treat.

3. Chocolate-Dipped Marshmallow — 55 calories
Using one 25-calorie marshmallow and about 1/2 tablespoon of melted chocolate (from chocolate chips), you get a decadent little treat that’s only about 55 calories.

4. Single-Serving 100-Calorie Cookie
With the right measurements, you can make one perfectly sized cookie that totals about 100 calories. I experimented until I found a recipe that yields a single satisfying portion.

5. Mug Cake — 100 calories
A simple low-calorie mug cake can be made with 2 tablespoons of cake mix, 1 tablespoon of liquid egg whites, and 1 tablespoon of water—adding up to about 100 calories. Microwave briefly for an instant single-serving dessert.

6. Apple Nachos — ~100 calories per plate
Apple slices or chips topped with a drizzle of melted chocolate and a few berries make a crunchy-sweet plate that can be kept around 100 calories. It’s a fresh, shareable option or a light single serving.

7. Low-Calorie Protein “Ice Cream” — 100 calories
A simple frozen yogurt-style treat made by blending 1 cup of frozen raspberries with half a container of nonfat vanilla Greek yogurt (about 40 calories for the portion used) yields a creamy, protein-rich dessert around 100 calories.

8. Baked Cinnamon Apple — 100 calories
Sliced apples baked with cinnamon, a touch of brown sugar, and a little cornstarch to thicken the juices creates a warm, comforting dessert that can be portioned to about 100 calories.

Those are the ideas I’ve collected so far. I’m always experimenting and adding new low-calorie desserts, so check back for more. Below is a visual reminder to pin and save these recipes for easy reference.
